In this chapter, you play as Atreus.
After the cutscene, you should be able to turn right to hit an interact prompt which should see you open the wardrobe (if you can move up and down with the DPad after you activate you’re in the beginning menu you’ll have seen earlier).
Upgrade any items here using OCR, then nav assist to continue.
You do have the option of hitting an interact prompt to listen to a conversation should you find it, but if you just want to continue the story, keep nav assisting and interacting.
After hitting a prompt where Atreus wonders where Odin is, nav assist again to interact with another, which starts dialogue between Thor and Odin.
Nav assist won’t work here. Move forward until your feet stop moving, with the conversation happening to your right.
Then move to your right diagonally so Odin’s voice is coming from your left and walk forward. After your feet stop moving again, turn back to your left towards the beating of wings.
If successful, you should be able to follow Odin’s voice when he tells Atreus to come here and if you’re lucky, you’ll hear a cutscene trigger.
This can take a while to find so be patient with it and if you restart checkpoint, you’ll be just before one of the prior interact prompts.
Long cutscene over, you’ll get another quest update.
Pull out the mask again and follow it via nav assisting as per usual. If you don’t feel like you’re moving, put the mask away and then roll around until you can run forward, which will lead you into combat.
Enemies dealt with and Thrud questioning what Atreus knows, nav assist as previously alongside some auto-traversal and you’ll get into more combat.
Nightmares and Hellwalkers defeated, you can nav assist to hit an interact prompt to progress.
Nav assist for a while and you’ll get a mask prompt to follow. You’ll be told to double back to find a way around and Atreus puts the mask away.
Nav assist some more to enter another combat sequence. Shooting these enemies from range proved to be the best idea in my case.
Combat over, nav assist and interact for a funny piece of dialogue and progression, then continue nav assisting.
Eventually, you’ll get to a point where your feet stop moving, starting another:
Puzzle
Nav assist and look for an aim cue for a heavy attack. Fire at this, you’ll hear a loud crash. If you hear a smaller one, roll back once or twice and hit a second heavy cue.
Once done, nav assist, roll back a couple of times and you should be able to aim and hit a light arrow cue as well to complete the puzzle, with comments about the crate falling through the floor.
End Of Puzzle
Now nav assist onwards, including some auto-traversal into, you guessed it, more combat.
Hellwalkers and a Revenant beaten, nav assist until your feet stop moving.
Aim and shoot a heavy sonic arrow, there should be a cue for this.
You will hear a crashing sound if successful, where Thrud will acknowledge your success by saying let’s go
.
Nav assist, dropping down and continuing onwards, eventually coming across some more enemies.
After taking out the various enemies in this area, you’ll eventually get a mask prompt.
After a while and pulling out the mask, Atreus will say looks like it’s through here
, here being via an interact prompt.
Interact, but don’t move as Thrud helps, or tries to, starting another
Puzzle
Once Thrud starts trying to move what it turns out is a door and fails continually, move to your left for about a quarter of a second, then look to your right until Thrud is in the centre of your stereo field. Now aim and shoot a light arrow quickly after you aim. There may not be a cue here but, if you’ve done it right, you should hear something break and Thrud congratulates you.
Note this can be very tricky to pull off, though restarting the checkpoint requires you to just do the prior navigation run back to the interactable prompt.
End of puzzle
At this point you can nav assist to progress and, when you auto-traverse up a ledge, press nav assist to turn yourself to the next one and move forward to ascend into combat.
You’ll be almost staring into the face of another enemy. Fight these tougher foes, getting up close and personal if you have to.
When Thrud asks if the rush will ever go away, clarifying that combat is over, nav assist to an interact prompt and continue to nav assist.
After potentially rolling to your right once to break an obstruction, navigate onwards and when Atreus says the way is blocked, nav assist, aim and shoot a heavy arrow cue to send an object crashing out of your way.
Continue onwards, pulling out the mask should you wish, until Thrud starts moving an object.
Nav assist until your feet stop moving. Roll right twice, then roll back once and aim.
If you’re in the right place, you should hear a light arrow cue. Hit this then nav assist to hear more dialogue.
Nav assist and auto-traverse on to a platform, then immediately aim (no nav assist required). You should hear a heavy arrow cue.
Hit this then continue onward after the object you’ve hit makes a loud crash, as is usual by now.
More traversal and interaction prompts later, Thrud will tell you to step aside
but be unable to move the object.
Your task again is to free the object. Repeat the same process as before; nav assist until your feet stop moving, roll right twice and back once, then aim and hit a light attack cue.
Even if one isn’t present, you should hear the object Thrud was lifting move and dialogue confirming a successful hit.
Nav assist around the corner for more combat, again with some heavier enemies.
Defeating these foes, pull the mask out to get a new waypoint. Then Thrud should provide an interact prompt by once again moving an object.
Continuing onwards, interact to kick down a chain. Climb down this with an interact prompt as usual.
Nav assist until your feet stop moving. Then aim and hit a companion arrow cue.
If successful, Thrud should say something confirming this and you’ll hear a small crash in the distance.
Now continue nav assisting back to Thrud, at least that’s where you’d go if combat wasn’t in the way.
This fight has two revenants at once, but this should be fairly straightforward by now, especially if you’ve been able to get some of Atreus skills with OCR, though it’s not strictly required.
Defeat these foes and continue via an interact prompt, climbing up a chain.
Once at the top of the chain, nav assist onwards to reunite with Thrud. As you continue, Atreus will talk about the mask freaking out
and that you must be close
.
And indeed you are. As you continue and auto-traverse the next ledge, a giant ominous roar can be heard in the distance.
Keep nav assisting and pull out the mask to prompt dialogue.
Walking forward, though nav assist may not work at first, find the next interact prompt. It may take you a couple of tries to find and/or hit it, but once you do, hit the hold prompt and Thrud will say about repeating the process.
Repeat this process twice more. The second time you repeat it, breaking the third chain overall, things play out a little differently.
From here, continue nav assisting until your feet stop moving. You’ll get dialogue and a quest update.
Nav assist onwards and eventually, you trigger a cutscene where Heimdall admonishes Atreus and Thrud
Cutscene done, follow Heimdall and Thrud via nav assist, then Odin will speak to you as well, with a quest update appearing.
You can actually stand and listen to Heimdall and Odin talk, for some rather amusing dialogue, should you wish.
Once you’ve listened to them talk or not as the case may be, including hitting the interact prompt for the door to listen in from the outside, continue onward, conversing with Thrud until you find the interact prompt to let yourself into your room.
If you can find the interact prompt for the wardrobe (which might be somewhere to your right though tricky to locate), perform any upgrades if needed.
From here, head to the interact prompt to trigger a cutscene.
After the cutscene, find another interact prompt and use it, where you’ll immediately see some enemies outside.
Defeat them and head to a mystic gateway via nav assist, you’ll automatically go to Sindri’s house.
Take the exit and battle ensues once again, where you’re reunited with your allies.
During combat, Freya will first tell you to keep the enemies off of her, then call for your aid with the spell she’s casting.
You’ll have to disable lock on to engage nav assist to get to Freya. Once you reach her, you’ll get an interact prompt. Hit this to assist her via a hold that takes you into a cutscene.
After this brief sequence, you switch characters and simultaneously get introduced to arguably the most fun rage type in the game, Spartan Wrath (hereafter just known as Wrath).
This deals massive damage to a single enemy with whatever weapon you have equipped, charging at them, though it can sometimes miss for some strange reason. Thankfully this does not occur often.
Hit rage as prompted and you’ll be back in combat.
Eventually, an explosion will happen and a cutscene triggers, ending the fight.
This cutscene marks the end of this chapter and the start of the 12th, Reunion.
