Setting up online lobbies

IN order to jump into a match, even with friends, you have to first create a lobby.

The settings don’t save between reloads, even if you back out and recreate in-game, as far as our tests and verification from other players showed.

  • Go to online, then 3 down to lobby (first item in the online menu is ranked, second is casual, third is beginners league, fourth is lobby).
  • From here you have two options, Lobby search, or create lobby.

The Create Lobby Menu

    create lobby

  • start on create lobby, move down for the rest of the options.
  • lobby size (defaults to 8 right is 2 3 4 5 6 7 then back to 8
  • friend invite slots start on 0 right goes to 1 then back to 0 (lobby is n-1, where n is the max number of people, so if you have an 8 person lobby you can invite up to 7 other people)
  • Region: same region, right goes to all regions then back to same
  • Skill same skill only right goes to no skill restrictions, back to same skill only
  • lobby name defaults to anybody welcome right goes to
    • beginners welcome,
    • mid-level players wanted,
    • calling all experts,
    • more skilled than me: bring it!,
    • rivals wanted,
    • teach me sensei,
    • live to fight fight to win,
    • tactics research institute,
    • local players wanted,
    • character lock zone,

    • practice welcome,
    • sub characters welcome,
    • broadcasting,
    • commentating,
    • spectators welcome,
    • taking it easy,
    • back to anybody welcome
  • x is restore default settings.

After Lobby Creation

After the lobby is created by clicking Create Lobby, the music will fade and change to a new screen. From here, if you have one friend slot, you can invite your friends in by pressing right bumper. Then you have to press A to click OK, then choose either Battle or Spectator Mode. Both opponents choose battle mode if there’s only two players in the lobby to get started. Then just press A again if you need to. If successfully done, the music will stop completely and the character select screen will appear, with the host selecting stages.

Then select your characters to get right into the action.

Again, to reiterate:

  • rb is party invite
  • press a to confirmselect either battle or spectate, even if you select battle you may have to spectate until slots open.
  • Click a again to confirm, if nothing happens that’s still ok, you haven’t broken anything.
  • Once the lobby music stops, wait for character select to appear and if you’re the host, select the stage you want to fight on.
  • After that, pick teams and stones and battle it out.

characters only appear as text on screen after selections from both players.
